I paint what I feel about something I have seen, be it a certain light or solely the landscape itself. My work is all figurative – large water colours and similar size oils. I produce mainly city and townscapes, as that is where I spend most of my time. I have recently been concentrating on topographical scenes.

I trained as a stage designer, then worked in London theatres early in life as a carpenter, prop maker and stage hand. Preferring complete independence artistically I left for Italy in order to teach English and to paint part time. On my return to the UK I followed a managerial career in the Post Office to earn a living, but continued to paint in my spare time. For the last 10 years I have been semi-retired and consequently have more time at the easel.
