Westgate Studios, previously Wakefield Artsmill, is the main artist studio provider in the Wakefield District. Over its 17 year period this artist run, creative community has also hosted numerous exhibitions and workshops. Recently the company relocated from Wakefield’s waterfront to the heart of the city’s cultural quarter. At Westgate Studios we aim to provide the right environment for artists to create and display their work in a friendly and exciting community.

The Studios
Westgate Studios occupies some 8,000 sq ft spreading over two floors of a heritage building in the very centre of Wakefield. With the exterior and infrastructure of the building newly refurbished by its owners Brooks Leisure, Westgate Studios have been given the opportunity and freedom to define how the 26 studio spaces might be used. Already the existing community displays a wide range of studio uses, from basic spaces suitable for painters and sculptors, to workshop facilities used by a jeweller and potter, to office-style accommodation suitable for a composer, an animator and digital artists.

A large room within Westgate Studios has been refurbished to a high standard into 4 open plan work spaces.

Studio Prices
The studios range in size and price, payable on a monthly standing order with one month’s rent as a returnable deposit, plus a small key deposit.

There is 24 hour access, lift to each floor, kitchen on middle floor and toilets on each floor. We have full disabled access and facilities.
